Rahill Claims Second Junior WRC Podium in Chile
Motorsport Ireland Academy driver Craig Rahill and co-driver Conor Smith concluded their debut Junior WRC campaign on a high note, securing a third-place finish at Rally Chile.
The Cavan duo adapted quickly to shifting weather conditions, navigating muddy opening stages on Friday to hold sixth place overnight. A charge on Saturday, capped by a fastest stage time on the day’s long final test, elevated the crew to third position.
Consistent top-three times across Sunday’s four final stages sealed the podium result, moving the pair inside the top five in the final Junior WRC championship standings.
Reflecting at the finish ramp, Rahill highlighted the tactical approach that paid off across the weekend:
“Delighted to pick up a podium in Chile. We arrived with a goal this weekend to just keep our noses clean and get as much mileage and experience as possible. We were rewarded with a podium in the end which was really special and a great way to finish off an epic season. We really enjoyed Saturday’s stages and got into a good rhythm. We picked up a stage win on the final stage which was the longest stage of the rally – that was cool to get.”
