Organisers of the Top Part West Coast Rally Championship are the first regional rally championship in Ireland to confirm their series will go ahead next year.
The popular championship, first run in 1993 and sponsored by Tralee-based Top Part since its inception was last run in 2019.
Only one round, the Birr Rally, ran in 2020 before the pandemic closed everything down.
Motorsport Ireland’s new calendar, released last, has not been fully verified yet – several clubs have applied for additional date changes as a result of the new biennial arrangement for some rallies – and Top Part organisers are awaiting the final publication of this document before releasing its own calendar.
“Due to the reduced calendar presented by Motorsport Ireland recently the Top Part West Coast Championship are now in the process of finalising the provisional events and the number of rounds for 2022,” said championship official Richard Talbot in a social media post.
“We would expect to have details available over the coming weeks. We will keep you up to date as soon as the events and the clubs involved are confirmed.”
While the Circuit of Kerry has been dropped from the 2022 MI calendar, Kerry Motor Club’s Winter Rally will form a round of the Top Part West Coast Championship for 2022.
