Alan Ring’s newly restored Subaru Legacy set for Wexford debut – 40 never before seen photos of the rebuild at Prodrive Legends

Alan Ring will run his newly restored Subaru Legacy for the first time on this weekend’s Wexford Rally.

The car – registration number K555BAT – has a very interesting history. It has just been through a full nut and bolt rebuild by Prodrive Legends.

The car’s first known driver was Ari Vatanen who drove it on the 1993 Acropolis Rally. It then went to the late and great Possum Bourne, the New Zealander won the Rally of Thailand with the car that same year.

“Many of these cars are now appreciating classics with immense value to their passionate owners,” Paul Howarth of Prodrive Legends told Classic and Sportscar magazine at the company’s launch.

“With the formation of Prodrive Legends, owners can now bring the cars home to the same company – and even many of the same people – who originally designed and built them and took them to multiple wins.”

“Quite simply, there is nobody in a better position to rebuild a Prodrive car – we literally know them inside out and many of the people we have on the Prodrive Legends team built the cars originally.”

The car was well known in Ireland too when it was used by Kildare man Hugh Dunne when he contested several Irish national and international rallies in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
