The FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) is coming back to America. The Federation Internationale de l’Automobile, the governing body of world motorsport, has released the 2027 WRC calendar, confirming the United States will host a round of the Championship (August 26-29) next year. The 2027 Rally US will be the first time the world’s premier rally series has competed on American soil in 39 years. The WRC last visited the United States for the Washington state-hosted Olympus Rally in 1988. Across the last four decades the WRC has grown into a year-long, truly global series followed and viewed by hundreds of millions of fans. The stars and cars of the FIA World Rally Championship will return to the U.S. in 2027
“For 38 years, America has been the missing pin on the FIA World Rally Championship map,” said Matt Crews, President and CEO of Rally US. “Today, that changes. Bringing the best drivers, teams and manufacturers in the world back to American roads is a historic moment for this sport and for this country, and we are going to deliver an event worthy of that moment.” Proud to see America back on the FIA World Rally Championship calendar, Crews was quick to recognize the role the American rally community played in making Rally US possible. “This moment belongs to the American rally community,” Crews said. “For decades, the competitors, volunteers, organizers and fans kept this sport alive on American roads, and their work is what proved to the FIA that our country is ready. We intend to make that community proud.” Rally US has worked alongside the American Rally Association National Championship (ARA) and rally organizers across the U.S. throughout the FIA’s candidate event process. Rally US will unveil full event details on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, including host locations, ticketing plans, fan activations and event partnerships. Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the FIA, said: “The United States represents one of the most important growth opportunities for the FIA World Rally Championship. It is a nation where motor sport is part of the cultural DNA, with world-class domestic championships and a rapidly growing appetite for global competition. I am deeply committed to strengthening the FIA’s presence in the U.S. and ensuring that rallying becomes a defining pillar of that future.
“Expanding the WRC into North America not only enhances the Championship’s global reach, but connects rallying with a knowledgeable, passionate, and expanding fanbase in a market where participation and engagement continue to accelerate and grow.”

WRC Promoter CEO Eric Boullier said: “The United States has long been a priority for the FIA WRC, and we are delighted to confirm America’s return to the calendar. We look forward to working with Rally US to introduce a new generation of American fans to the most spectacular form of motorsport.” Kevin Miller, President of Accus-FIA, USA said: “Rally has a passionate and growing following in the U.S., and bringing the world’s best drivers, teams and manufacturers back to compete on American roads creates an incredible opportunity to showcase our country on the global motorsport stage. ACCUS is proud to help make this possible, and we look forward to welcoming the WRC, the FIA and rally fans from around the world back to the United States.”
