Kerry crews deliver top results at MRF Tyres Cork ’20’ Rally
Kerry drivers and co-drivers featured heavily across the classes at the MRF Tyres Cork ’20’ International Rally over the weekend.
David Kelly and Kerry co-driver Shane Buckley took a solid fifth overall in the main international field aboard their Škoda Fabia RS Rally2.
In the class battles, brother and sister duo Mossie Costello and Megan Costello recorded their first Rally4 class victory in their Ford Fiesta. David Randles and Aidan Kennedy completed a Kerry one-two in the category, placing second in their Peugeot 208 Rally4.
Daniel O’Connor and Micheal O’Shea took second place in Class 11F in their Honda Civic.
Vincent O’Shea and Eoin O’Donoghue finished third in Class 14 after their service crew replaced a clutch in their Darrian T90 GTR during final service. The result gives them valuable points for the Southern 4 Rally Championship modified title fight, which concludes at the Stonethrowers Rally in October.
John Hickey and Natasha Murphy won Class 15 in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.
In the Historic category, Castleisland co-driver Denny Greaney guided Ronan Campbell to fifth overall in their Ford Escort Mk2. While Jordan Hone provisionally wrapped up the ITRC Historic navigators’ title, Greaney remains in line for a championship podium finish, pending official points from series organisers.
