EGM Called to Decide Future of South West Road Racing Club
The South West Road Racing Club CLG has issued an official notice calling an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Saturday, 3 October 2026, to vote on the future of the company.
The meeting follows the cancellation of the Athea Road Races earlier this month after track inspection issues on the circuit’s back road prevented the event from going ahead.
The sole item on the EGM agenda will determine whether to appoint new company directors or proceed with the formal winding-up and closure of the club.
Under Irish Company Law, a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) must maintain a minimum of two directors to legally exist. While the club president publicly stepped down from his position following the cancellation of the event, he remains a director legally and intends to formally remove himself at the meeting. If replacement directors do not step forward, the club will cease to exist and be wound up.
Attendance at the EGM is strictly restricted to paid-up members of the club. General public, volunteers, and supporters will not be permitted entry.
The club also confirmed that the outgoing president and public relations officer are continuing behind-the-scenes work to ensure all outstanding refunds for sponsors, traders, and ticket holders are processed in an orderly manner.
Further details regarding the time and venue for the meeting on 3 October will be communicated directly to members.
