Women in Motorsport
The event featured high participation across both driver and co-driver ranks. Galway Motor Club member Gemma Hallinan and co-driver Ciara Duggan were the first all-female crew across the line, maintaining Hallinan’s second place in Class 2A in the National Rally Championship.
Aine Lonergan was the second female driver across the line, ensuring a tight battle for the Top Part West Coast Women in Motorsport driver title ahead of the final round. Molly Foley co-drove her brother Kaelin to second in Class 2A and now leads the co-driver category in the West Coast WIM Championship.
Other highlights include Ashleigh Will co-drove Gordon Morrison to eighth overall, while Gillian Gilmartin guided David Hunt in Class 2. Kerry Motor Club’s Megan Costello co-drove Kevin Kelleher to sixth in Class 14 on their first outing together. Megan Ryan co-drove Francis Kelly to third in Class 3, and Aoife Hernon co-drove her father Ivan in a Ford Fiesta R2T.
In the Junior ranks, Louise Bourke and Edwin Walsh (Peugeot 206 Cup Car) finished seventh in Class 16, provisionally maintaining third position in the Junior West Coast WIM standings. Oranmore’s Sophie Byrnes co-drove Darragh Mullins to fourth in Class 16.
