The Cork Connection: Mike Browne almost unnoticed success at the Isle of Man TT 🔴⚪
While the dust has settled on the Isle of Man TT, outside of the motorcycle racing community, very little has been said about East Cork racer Mike Browne and his massive achievements on the Island.
The Killeagh man signed off the 2026 event with a podium, five silver replicas, five top-10 finishes, and a 130mph+ Superbike lap. He leaves the Island as the fastest Republic of Ireland rider of all time around the Mountain Course and the only ROI competitor ever to join the elite 130mph club.
Mike’s TT 2026 Results:
- Superbike TT: 9th (130.330mph lap) on the Caffrey International/Russell Racing Honda Fireblade.
- Supersport TT Race 1: In the top three before a pit-lane penalty dropped him back.
- Supersport TT Race 2: 4th on the Boyce Precision Engineering Yamaha, setting his quickest-ever Supersport lap over 127mph.
- Sportbike TT Race 1: 3rd, taking a career podium aboard the Melbray/Laycock Racing Paton after a final-lap battle.
- Senior TT: 9th on the Russell Racing Honda.

The Gene McDonnell Tribute Browne’s Sportbike podium carried extra significance, as the Paton ran in the historic Joe Millar Racing livery. The design marked 40 years since the tragic loss of Portglenone’s Gene McDonnell at the 1986 TT. Team boss Eddie Laycock and Simon Warren brought the tribute together, making the podium finish incredibly special for everyone who remembers Gene.
A back-to-back Lightweight Manx Grand Prix winner and the first to win on the Mountain Course with a Ducati 916, Killeagh’s finest continues to write his own chapter in Irish road racing history.
