There is always a Kerry connection as the Flemings launch Retro Cannonball

Tadhg and Derry Fleming brought their trademark energy to Killarney this week to officially launch the 2026 Retro Cannonball. The local social media stars have teamed up with the event to champion its new charity partnership with Ronald McDonald House, a cause that provides essential housing for families while their children undergo hospital treatment.

The launch also featured a poignant local story as Cannonball founder Alan Bannon welcomed six-year-old Ella O’Connor and her family from Brosna. The O’Connors experienced the vital support of Ronald McDonald House firsthand, staying there for nearly two years during Ella’s treatment at Crumlin Hospital. Having officially finished her chemotherapy last year, Ella was on hand to help promote the road trip, which has already raised over €2.2 million for Irish children’s charities to date.

While the event itself will focus on the “Sunny South East” from June 5th to 7th, the Killarney launch set the stage for what promises to be a nostalgic journey through the decades. The convoy will feature 100 classic cars, ranging from the Lamborghini Diablo and Ferrari 348 GTS to the Ford Escort Cosworth and MG Midget. The route begins in Dún Laoghaire and travels through Wicklow, Wexford, and Carlow before a grand finish in Waterford City.
