Classic Opel and Vauxhall Fest set for Killarney on Sunday

Classic car enthusiasts will gather in Killarney on Sunday, May 17, for the annual Opel/Vauxhall Run Kerry and MantaFest.

The event is set to showcase a range of vintage Opel, Vauxhall, and General Motors vehicles against the scenery of South and Mid Kerry.

The 2026 run is sponsored by Brian O’Neill Garden Equipment and Trailers of Castleisland. The partnership holds a strong motorsport link, as Brian’s father, Dessie O’Neill, famously campaigned a Vauxhall Chevette during the late 1970s in major events like the Circuit of Ireland Rally.

This year’s nominated charity is The Kerry Stars Special Olympics Sports Club, which provides sporting and competitive opportunities for athletes with special needs.

Registration takes place at the Killarney Oaks Hotel on Muckross Road starting at 9 a.m., with the field scheduled to depart at 11.15.

Drivers will navigate a route featuring Molls Gap, Ballaghbeama Gap, and Caragh Lake before arriving at the Gap of Dunloe for a scenic lunch stop. Organisers Paul and Michael Horan have credited the hospitality of Eamon, Valeria, at the Killarney Oaks Hotel for helping to make the annual gathering possible.
