Start ramp to go ahead on Main Street despite town centre works

Organisers have confirmed that the ceremonial start ramp for the 2026 Assess Ireland Rally of the Lakes will proceed as planned on Main Street, despite ongoing public realm works in the town centre.

The Killarney Municipal District and event coordinators have worked closely to ensure the area is safe and accessible for the high-profile start. The festivities on Main Street will begin at 6pm on Friday, May 1, featuring a pre-event warm-up with live music, interviews, and a showcase of a classic car significant to Killarney’s local history.

The first rally car is expected to cross the start ramp at 7pm. While sections of the town centre are currently undergoing enhancement works, pedestrian access will be maintained, allowing spectators to gather and cheer on the crews. This ceremonial start follows the “Wheels on the Bus” community sing-song, ensuring a packed evening of entertainment in the heart of Killarney before the competitive stages begin.
