There is always a Kerry connection: Richard Browne returns to ERC with Kristoffersson Motorsport

Kerry-born engineer Richard Browne returns to the FIA European Rallycross Championship paddock this season with the Kristoffersson Motorsport (KMS) team. The German-based engineer from Firies will be part of the technical setup as the Swedish squad enters the Euro RX1 category for the 2026 season opener in Riga.
Browne brings significant experience to the team, having previously worked at the highest levels of the World Rally Championship with Volkswagen and Hyundai. His move to KMS puts him in the garage of eight-time world champion Johan Kristoffersson, who is the most successful driver in rallycross history.
The KMS team has confirmed an all-star line-up for the Latvian round on May 9–10. Kristoffersson is joined by Norwegian driver Ole Christian Veiby, with the pair returning to internal combustion engine cars for the European campaign.
“It will be a great pleasure to drive a rallycross car again,” said Kristoffersson. “The first two corners in Riga are tricky, so it’s likely that we will have some action there.”
The 2026 calendar includes a round at Mondello Park, and Browne’s involvement with the championship leaders ensures a strong Kerry link when the series arrives in Ireland. While the team is currently focused on the opening round in Latvia, they are evaluating their plans for the rest of the season.
