Killarney’s Noel O’Sullivan faces hectic European and local double

Killarney co-driver Noel O’Sullivan has a massive few weeks ahead as he balances a return to international competition with a historic bid on home soil.
This weekend, O’Sullivan and driver Callum Devine travel to Spain for the Sierra Morena Rally in Córdoba, marking the start of their FIA European Rally Championship (ERC) campaign. Competing in their Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, the pair return to the ERC for the first time since the 2024 Rali Ceredigion in Wales, where they finished a strong fifth overall against top European crews.
The Spanish season-opener features a huge 53-car entry, including 30 Rally2 machines. O’Sullivan and Devine will be up against fellow Irish competitors including William Creighton (Down) and Philip Allen (Tyrone), alongside defending champion Miko Marczyk.
While the focus is on the Spanish asphalt, the crew has also entered the Rally of the Lakes over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
They are chasing an unprecedented fifth win in a row in Killarney and hope to regain the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship lead following an off-road excursion at the Circuit of Ireland over Easter.
Meanwhile, official Rally of the Lakes launch has been rescheduled for this Sunday at 5:00 pm, after last weekend’s event was postponed due to fuel shortages.
The busy period follows a successful night at the Kerry Sports Star Awards at the Rose Hotel, where O’Sullivan was named the International Motorsport winner alongside Michelle Quinn and Caz Somers who were also recognised for their efforts in their Honda Civic last season.
