O’Grady planning Northwest 200 return on Superbike
Emmet O’Grady will return to the Northwest 200 next season on a Superbike,
The Tralee racer made his second appearance at the biggest bike race in Ireland last weekend.
This year he raced in three different categories, SuperTwin, SuperStock and SuperSport.
His best result came in the opening SuperTwin race where he finished eighth on his TAG Racing Aprilia.
He finished 13th in his second Supersport race but did not start race one after damaging a radiator on the warm-up lap.
He was 15th in both Supersport races.
However, his main ambition is to contest the Superbike class at next year’s Northwest 200, and he used this year to build experience ahead of his big bike debut at the same venue next season.
“I was happy, but I won’t say I was delighted with my results,” he said.

“I was able to run with the frontrunners on the early laps, but kind of back off as I was saying to myself, I am not supposed to be here.
“I know I can stay with them – they are all professionals – next year the plan is to finish in the top ten of all races. We will drop the SuperTwin next year and take a Superbike. It was a confidence-building weekend.”
O’Grady will not take part in further national road races this year but will instead concentrate on the Ulster short circuit championship.
