The all-new Hyundai IONIQ 6 has arrived in Kerry

The all-new Hyundai IONIQ 6 has arrived in Kerry.

The new offering from the Korean manufacturer is now on show and available for test drive at Adam’s of Tralee – the county’s main Hyundai dealer.

Launched under a shroud of secrecy last week, the new car was unveiled in Dublin last Thursday.

The first of the new cars arrived in Kerry very early the same morning but remained undercover outside the Tralee dealership until the launch was completed in Dublin.

Already the Hyundai IONIQ 6 is among the finalists for 2023 World Car of the Year, 2023 World Electric Vehicle and 2023 World Car Design of the Year, respectively.

IONIQ 6 is based on the same Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) as the 2022 World Car of the Year, IONIQ 5, and has attracted a hugely positive response since it was announced as a concept last year.

The IONIQ 6 is designed to go further, with faster charging and sleeker styling. The car is equipped with a 77 kWh battery available with two powertrains (rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive) offering up to 540 kilometres of range.

Advanced technology allows for ultra-fast charging – just 18 minutes for a full charge.

“Driving on electric is easier than ever,” said a Hyundai spokesperson.

Electric vehicles are growing in popularity in Kerry. So far this year 144 electric cars have been sold in the county compared to 117 for the entirety of 2022.
