Craig Breen and James Fulton will contest the nine-round Portuguese Rally Championship in a Hyundai Portugal-supported I20 Rally2.
They will form part of a two-car team with Ricardo Teodósio
The plan, strongly rumoured at Rallye Monte Carlo, was confirmed by Hyundai on Friday.
The story made one of Kerry Motorsport News’s top five rumours after the WRC season opener – so far three of the five have been confirmed and the fourth one will be over the line by the weekend.
The opening round of the Portuguese championship is the FIA European Rally Championship counting Serras de Fafe Rally.
More Irish drivers are expected to enter the March 10 to 11 event.
“I am very excited about this project. It will be very challenging to compete simultaneously in both [the WRC and Portuguese] championships, and I feel very motivated to compete in Portugal with Team Hyundai Portugal,” he said
“I’m going to begin my WRC season in Sweden, but I can’t wait to be in Fafe,”
