Mick Smith’s Bovingdon Challenge

Mick Smith enjoyed his first competitive outing in his ex-Harry Brown Chrysler Avenger last weekend.

The Berkshire-based Killarney man acquired the car earlier this year.

He did drive on the demonstration Déjà vu Tralee event in May but last weekend’s Bournemouth and District Motor Club’s Challenger Stages Rally at the Bovington Tank Test Track in Dorset.

He was joined at the event by fellow London Irish Motor Club members Ian Barclay and Sue Plater in their Darran T90.

Mick was co-driven by youngster Mitchell Stanfield who was co-driving on only his third event.

“A couple of London Irish guys travelled together over the weekend to compete in the Challenger Stages at Bovingdon Tank test area near Wareham Dorset,” he said.

“The well-organised event run by Bournemouth and District motor club ably assisted by other clubs including a large contingent from Craven Motor Club  provided us with a fabulous event with well-designed stages”

“We all had a ball of a day with no dramas and both crews and cars finishing well. A well-deserved thanks to BDMC for the day
