The Moriarty’s Centra Kingdom of Kerry Rally Championship is on a knife edge heading in to the final round, the Rentokil Initial Killarney Historic Rally.
The optimum score is 36 and there are quite a few drivers and co-drivers close to that target after four of the five rounds.
Dropped scores will come into play at this point too…best three overall results plus all the bonus points that can be gathered.

The driver’s title is, in reality, between Darren Young, Bob Moran and Mark Murphy. Apart from Moran the other two are former champions. And because Moran and Murphy are in the same class, it will depend on who beats who in Killarney, provided there are at least ten cars in the class.

Yes, it’s complicated, but it’s fair.
In the co-driver’s league, if Ger Conway starts the event, he should put the gold medal beyond Damian Fleming. Fleming is co-driving for Mark Murphy so there will be plenty of tactics in the Toyota Starlet over Killarney’s seven stages.
If Murphy and Fleming win a ten-car class there could be a tie-break situation between Fleming and Conway…let us not go there just yet. The first rule to be applied will be the greater number of class wins across all five rounds.
Sean Walsh and Noel O’Sullivan remain in contention for the co-driver’s gold medal.
Non-finishes, poorly supported classes, anything can happen.
Waiting in the wings is Ray O’Neill. Alan Ring is odds on to win the historic element of the championship, and Jason Farrell has already won the junior section.
