Kerry Motor Club were delighted to welcome two Namibian rally fans to the Banna Beach Resort Kerry Winter Rally today, Saturday.
Father and son Dippies and Wilro Dippenaar are in Kerry as guests of Kevin and Colin O’Donoghue and Jack Kelleher.
Wilro competes in rallies in both his home country and on South African events in a Ford Fiesta S2000. This is their first trip to Ireland for any reason, not to mind to a rally.
They were at Kelliher’s Toyota Garage earlier in the day for scrutiny and will be around the service park in the Brandon Car Park on Sunday.
“We are used to seeing rally cars but not this many in one event,” said dad Dippies.
“The hospitality has been fantastic too. This is our first trip to Ireland, the closest we have come to Ireland, is we have been to the UK before for the Autosport International in Birmingham.”

South African driver Ashely Haige Smith will be a non-starter after difficulties securing the right paperwork between South Africa and Ireland but it is expected he will contest the Galway International Rally in February
