Former winner Barry Meade enters Kerry Winter Rally
Entries are flying in for Kerry Motor Club’s Kerry Winter Rally.
The October 30 rally is a round of three championships, The Top Part West Coast, The IPS Packaging Southern 4 and the Moriarty’s Centra Kingdom of Kerry, so with valuable championship points on offer, there was always going to be strong interest from rally crews up and down the country.
One of the first to commit to the event in 2011 winner Barry Meade.
He won the rally 11 years ago in a Ford Escort MK2 2.5 but was unable to defend his title the following year as he sold the car.
Meade, from Kanturk, has only ever competed in Banna twice before, once as a Junior driver and again when he won it.
“There is always good competition in Banna, “ he said. “I never got the chance to go back and claim the number one door panel but it should be a good event this year and it’s a Bank Holiday weekend too!

The rally is expected to have a capacity entry.
“Get your entries in early and come and enjoy the stages of North Kerry and while you’re here, sample the hospitality and the best rally party the country has to offer.,” said Seán Hegarty, Clerk of the Course.
