Former European Rally Champion Patrick Snijers could enter the Banna Beach Resort Kerry Winter Rally in October.
The Belgian confirmed his intention at his home World Rally Championship event, Ypres Rally Belgium at the weekend.
Snijers was in Tralee earlier this year when he participated in the Déjà Vu charity road run event in May.
He struck a friendship with several Kerry Motor Club and both the club and Snijers are keen to put a package together so he can contest the October 30 event.
“I will go there if they ask me. I will drive a Millington Escort, right-hand drive. It is a fun rally, especially the party afterwards,” he said at the pre–Rally Ypres press conference.

He has won seven Belgian national rally titles between 1983 and 1994. Outside Belgium, he was Dutch rally champion in 1992 and European Rally Champion in 1994.
He competed at Lurgan Park in Conty Down six times, winning it twice and finishing second twice but the has never competed on a rally in the Republic of Irelan.
Best known for his exploits on the Manx International Rally in 1988, his efforts in a BMW M3 E30 are the stuff of rallying legend.
