Kerry interest in the Gordon Bennet Event this weekend

Two members of the Kingdom, Veteran, Vintage and Classic Car Club will take part in the 2022 International Gordon Bennett Event next weekend.

Club members Chris Foley (club Webmaster) and Conor Twohill from Charleville will compete in a 1915 Ford Model T tourer.

“It is an Irish car, discovered in Ballyvaughan Co. Clare in the 1960s as a barn find  and restored by Tom Byrne in Wicklow in the 1970,” explained Conor. “It changed hands a few times later and my father purchased it in 1985 from John Moloney in Limerick and it’s been in our family since. It was off the road then for 20 years until I got it going again in 2005 and has been very active since then.”

The 2022 International Gordon Bennett Event is open to pre-1930 cars and not to be confused  with the Gordon Bennet run that took place over the June Bank Holiday weekend.
