Duggan the man to watch in National rally
Aghadoe’s Rob Duggan is the top seed for modified section of the Rally of the Lakes.
He finished second on the recent West Cork Rally but, for sure, Duggan’s Class 14 Ford Escort Mk2 will set a very high standard on his home event. He also won the modified section of the Killarney Historic Rally in November and much of Sunday’s route follws the same path as the winter rally.

Fellow Killarney man Colin O’Donoghue will aim to keep up with his Escort rival. O’Donoghue’s Killarney Historic Rally challenge came to an unfortunate end last November, he’ll be hoping to keep more pressure on Duggan this time.
Irish Tarmac Modified frontrunner, from Wexford, James Stafford looks set to bring his Darrian to the Rally of the Lakes for the first time in 14 years.
Other locals to look out for include Conor Murphy, Aidan Buckley, Tadhg O’Sullivan, Kevin O’Sullivan, Charlie Hickey and Denis Hickey in a fleet of well-prepared Escorts. Charlie’s brother John will drive his very unusual four-wheel-drive Escort.
Colin’s father Kevin wheels out his lovely BMW M3. The Duggan family are out in force too, Rob’s brother Andrew will be co-driven by their sister Tara in another Ford Escort.
Six stages on Saturday precede a full-on Sunday. The final day features four loops with two stages in each, including Moll’s Gap and Ballaghbeama.
