Former three-time winner of the Killarney Historic Rally (modified) Dessie Keenan is on the comeback trail.
The Monaghan man is building a new class14 Ford Escort and hopes to debut on the Birr Rally.
Keenan’s last outing was the 2016 Killarney Historic Rally where he finished seventh.
He won that event three times in a row between 2004 and 2006 and has been a podium finisher on the Rally of the Lakes.
“I just have the head down every chance I get to get this car ready,” he said. “She not ready yet and we are hopefully going to Birr next week. I can’t wait to get back out in my own car – nervous already.”
Failing an appearance in Birr, his home event, the Monaghan Stages is just a month away.
