Busy times in Australia for Darragh Murphy

Darragh Murphy is taking part in two events 650km apart this week.

The brother of Dunlop Masters Supersport championship front runner Andrew is currently based in Sydney.

Earlier this week he drove 650km to take part in a special two-day test session at Winton Raceway in Victoria.

The track is home to the second round of the Australian Superbike Championship.

“It’s about 6.5 hours from Sydney,” he explained. “So that is about 650km each way.”

The Honda CBR rider will return to Sydney on Wednesday which gives him just two days to prepare the round of the Summer Night Series Summer Night Series at Eastern Creek Raceway near Sydney.

Murphy is currently fourth in the Summer Night Series after the opening rounds two weeks ago.

Organisers are notoriously secretive about who enters the Friday night events that are run under the cover of darkness. It looks certain the Murphy will be racing against some very stiff opposition.

“The entry names haven’t been released, yet probably Wednesday or Thursday before they do that,” he added. “They just mentioned that second and third place in the Australian Superbike championship and another fella that’s heading to British Supersport will be racing on the night

Murphy, potentially faces competition from the likes of Tom Edwards, the Australian Supersport Championship runner up and Max Stauffer who placed third in series.

“I am guessing it is them that’s going there on the night as they live close to Sydney,” he added.
