Emmet O’Grady gets British Superbike Championship shot with Wilson Craig Racing

Emmet O’Grady will join the Wilson Craig Racing Team at the final round of the British Superbike Championships at Brands Hatch on October 15-17.

O’Grady will join ranks with Yorkshire’s Joey Thompson in the final two races of the Quattro Group British Supersport Championships, with both riders on board the Wilson Craig Honda Racing CBR600RR machines.

O’Grady, is no stranger to the Brands Hatch circuit having previously competed in the 2009 Triumph Triple Challenge and the 2011 British Superbike Cup, along with stints in the British Superstock Championships in 2012, before a work accident put on hold r-Kerry man’s racing for four years before returning back to the sport in 2018 under the TAG Honda Ireland banner in the Irish Superbike and Mondello Masters series.  Emmet is still part of the TAG Honda Ireland Team and will be hoping to finish his 2021 Mondello Masters off in fine form this weekend in Co-Kildare.

Emmet O’Grady:  “This is a fantastic opportunity to ride British Championship again, and my aim is to stay happy. I raced against Darren at the start of my career in which he always got the upper hand. We got to know each other better when I moved to TAG Honda in which Darren supported us with Technical information that was invaluable. I want to mention a big thanks to all my sponsors that have made this happen, especially TAG Team owner Thomas Fitzsimmons for urging me to go and do it and enjoy the experience. I have good British Championship knowledge and I am really looking forward to being part of the Wilson Craig Racing Team at Brands Hatch.”

Darren Gilpin (Team Principal): “We as a team are really looking forward to the season finale of the British Superbike Championships at Brands Hatch. I have known the O’Grady family for many years, and Emmet has been part of the Honda family since 2018, and in that time we have offered various levels of support. Emmet has extensive BSB experience as is a front runner in the Superbike class in the Irish Championships and is very capable of representing us at such a prestigious event. We have been looking for an opportunity to work together for a while now, and i am glad it has came together. I would also like to thank Thomas Fitzsimmons from TAG Honda for allowing this to happen.”
