KVVCC’s delayed mid-summer run finally gets off the ground

The Kingdom Veteran, Vintage and Classic Car Club held its much-delayed Johnny Cahillane Killorglin Run on Sunday afternoon.

The Killorglin run, organised by club member Johnny Cahilane – the club’s DKW specialist – usually runs on the Friday evening closest to Mid-Summer’s Day

As a result of COVID-19 restrictions in place in June, Johnny decided to defer the event until a time when restrictions would not be so strict.

Over 40 cars showed up at the Fishery Restaurant in Killorglin on Sunday afternoon and headed off on run through Glencar and along the shores of Carragh Lake.

The oldest car on the run was Richard Bono’s 1932 Riley. There were three Mercedes-Benz W123s in the run – another rare sight these days.

Fans of rallying from the 1980s were well-catered for, including an Opel Manta and a Lancia Delta HF Intergrale.
