Perth-based Kenmare co-driver Murish O’Connell scored his first ever rally win on last weekend’s Grimwald Rally.
The Kenmare man and his driver Gleen Cawood won the Clubman Cup section of the latest round of the Western Australia Rally Championship.
The Mitsubishi Lancer crew are now leading the category in the championship.
They came very close to the title last year but such is the competitive nature of the Western Australia Rally Championship there’s been five different winners in the last seven rallies , and a different winning crew at each of the three rounds this season.

“Glenn and I are delighted to get the win,” he told Kerry Motorsport News. “The Clubman Cup has been very competitive recently.
“We’ve been in the mix with stage wins and podiums, so it’s nice to finally convert that pace into a victory.
“You really don’t want to leave a rally with more excuses than a pregnant nun.”
“We had a really enjoyable blast through Grimwade Forest .
“We’re learning more each event and got plenty of practice at jumping the car over crests in this one!

“The stages were in superb condition and the South West Touring Car Club , running their first rally in many years , did an incredible job.”
