Moloney’s lucky 12 on Rally Hawkes Bay

Noel Moloney will be hoping the number 12 will prove luck on this weekend’s Rally Hawkes Bay.

The Napier-based event is the fourth round of Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship and the Duagh native currently leads the New Commers category with just two rounds to run.

He and his driver Quentin Palmer are seeded 12th for the event in their Mitsubishi Lancer.

The last time Moloney contested this event was in 2014, alongside Anthony Jones in a Ford Escort MK2 where they finished 12th and won their class.

Another class winning performance this weekend will mean the Moloney will have one hand on the Newcomers trophy with just Rally Coromandel left to run on September 4.

“It is another strong field,” he said. “With some really good stages are on the cards like Cricklewood and Mohaka Coach Road.”
