Lorcan Hanafin will have to wait another while before he can declare himself a Porsche Carrera Cup race winner after a difficult, but promising, opening weekend.
The opening rounds of the 2021 Porsche Carrera Cup took place in Snetterton last weekend.

Hanafin took pole position for race one and led the event from start to finish. However, race officials deemed he was “out of position at start” and handed him a ten-second penalty. This dropped him to third overall.

“In our eyes and that of many, he led from start to finish, was dominant throughout and won by nearly four seconds,” said his father Dermot who is originally from Tralee. “Against top field – plenty more to come.”
In race two, he picked up a puncture shortly after the start and did well to keep the car under control for the following 14 laps. He took a hard-earned fifth place.
He heads to the Brands Hatch double-header round in ten days holding fourth in the championship.
