Dean McElligott made an impressive motorsport debut at the East Cork Hot Rod Club sprint on Sunday.
The 15-year-old Causeway youngster is the son of former Kerry Motor Club vice chairman and well-known local competitor Maurice.

The father and son team fielded a self-built Nissan Micra for the event with Dean taking first in the Junior Modified class. Maurice drove the same car to fourth in a senior class.

Mossy Costeloe, Kerry’s youngest rally drive made his first competitive appearance since the Carrick-on-Suir Forestry Rally in February – there is no need to report the reason his season was disrupted – and he made his sealed surface debut at the wheel of his Hyundai i10.
