Young and Nagle county champions

Tralee driver Darren Young has been named as the Moriarty’s Centra Kingdom of Kerry Rally Championship winner for 2019.

The Honda Civic driver finished second in his class on three occasions over the course of the season. His first points haul came on the Circuit of Kerry in April. A month later he took back-to-back class seconds on each day of the Rally of the Lakes to allow him go one better on than his second place last year.

Paul Nagle is the county co-driving champion, a win on each day of the Rally of the Lakes and second overall on the Historic Rally, alongside Craig Breen, gave him enough points to take the title.

Alan Ring marked his first full season in a few years by taking second overall. He finished second in the historic rally category on the opening day of the Rally of the Lakes and backed this up with a category win on day-two in hired Ford Escort. He took his BMW M3 to seventh overall on the Historic Rally to take second place in the series which is now in its second year.

Tara Duggan takes second overall in the co-driver’s standings after a great season alongside her brother Andrew in two different Escorts. There was a tie for third with both Nicky Burke and Ronald O’Riordan sharing the bronze medal.

Aidan Buckley, from Rockfield took third in his Escort.

Donal ‘Connor was named as the overall Historic driver in the championship – one of the very few derivers to contest all four rounds. There was another tie in the co-drivers’ league in this category with Pat Cashman and Tony McCarthy sharing the spoils.

Donagh Crowley is the County Junior Champion, the only driver to support the two rallies that this category was based.
