A Ford Popular drag racing car once owned by British drag racing legend Andy Carter will be one of the start attractions at Sunday’s Cars and Coffee event in Killarney.
The third running of the now monthly car meet will take place at KC Print, Lissivigeen, Killarney between 10am and 1pm.
The Ford is now owned by Castlemaine based Barnaby Levy and he regularly races it in the UK.
This car does the quarter mile in 9 seconds. It’s powered by an Oldsmobile 468 cubic inch (7.66 litre) V8.
We have something a bit different lined up for you to see at the next Killarney Cars and Coffee on Sunday, “ said an event organiser. “This is a very famous car in drag racing circles having been campaigned in the UK in the 1980’s by Andy Carter. Those of us who read ‘Street Machine’ magazine back in the day would have seen a lot of coverage on this mad machine.”
