Kerry drivers deliver strong Stonethrowers performances

We are a little bit late with our Kerry round-up from the Stonethrowers Rally, but anyone following our social media channels over the last few weeks will know we have been flat out with Killarney Towers Hotel Killarney Historic Rally prep!
Better late than never, however, as local competitors turned in standout drives on the final round of the Triton Showers National Rally Championship and Top Part West Coast Rally Championship.
Leading the charge, the Cork and Kerry pairing of Cal McCarthy and Healy Pass co-driver Brian Duggan delivered a career-best National finish, steering their Citroen C3 Rally2 to second overall in a time of 45:38.5.
Kerry Motorsport News supported driver Oran England, who holds strong Kerry connections through his grandmother, claimed Class 2 victory in his Peugeot 208 Rally4 alongside co-driver Darragh Mullen, placing 18th overall.

Jack Kennedy and James Deane, another crew with Kingdom grand-parental ties, finished fourth in Class 2 and 33rd overall in their Peugeot 208 Rally4.
In Class 14, the Cavan and Kerry duo of Peter Wilson and Killarney co-driver John McCarthy brought their Ford Escort home 21st overall and sixth in class.
Right behind them, Dave Slattery and Denis Coffey steered their Ford Escort Mk2 to 23rd overall and third in Class 13. The result was enough for Slattery to wrap up the overall rear-wheel-drive award in the Top Part West Coast Rally Championship.
Oisin McShane and Killarney co-driver Nial Myers took Class 2A victory in their Peugeot 208 R2, finishing 26th overall in what was their final event in Class 2A.
In the same class, Kerry Motorsport News supported co-driver Daniel Seaman partnered David Travers to second in class and 39th overall on their first outing together.

Peter Kelly and Maurice McElligott used the event to prepare for the upcoming Killarney Historic Rally, placing their Ford Escort 47th overall and eighth in Class 14.
Father-and-son duo Willie Power and John Power tackled their second rally of the year, gaining speed throughout the day to bring their Darrian T90 GTR home 49th overall and seventh in Class 13.
Raymond Spence and Ger Somers overcame a misfiring engine on the eve of the event to complete the rally in their Ford Escort, while Adrian Randles and Denny Greaney placed 77th overall and tenth in Class 13 in their Ford Escort Mk2.
In the Junior category, Louise Bourke and Edwin Walsh brought their Peugeot 206 Cup Car home seventh in Class 16. The result ensured Bourke secured third place overall in the Women in Motorsport section of the Top Part West Coast Rally Championship.
