Ring Eyes European Historic Crown at Sanremo Title Decider

Killarney driver Alan Ring heads into this weekend’s Rallye Sanremo Storico on the brink of securing the FIA European Historic Rally Championship Pre-2000 (Category 5) title.

Ring and West Cork co-driver Adrian Deasy hold a 22-point advantage at the top of the standings following their performance at last month’s Rallye Elba Storico. Driving their Subaru Impreza, the crew leads Dutch competitor Arnold Van Der Smeede (79pts) heading into the Italian season finale.

A classified finish on the famous Ligurian tarmac stages on October 16–17 will be enough to seal the FIA European Pre-2000 championship crown for the Irish pairing.

Also featuring on the Italian entry list is Kerry co-driver Shane Buckley, who lines up alongside Tomas Davies in a BMW M3 E30.
