20 for 20: Bandon’s Seaman set for 20th start at Cork 20
Bandon rally co-driver Daniel Seaman marks his 20th career rally start on his home event this weekend, stepping into a Volkswagen Polo R5 for his four-wheel-drive debut on the MRF Tyres Cork 20 International Rally alongside Welsh driver Gareth Bevan.
Seeded at 29 in a competitive field, Seaman tackles two days of action based out of Clayton Silver Springs Hotel in Cork city with stages running through the Macroom and Millstreet areas.
The event forms the final round decider of the 2026 NAPA Auto Parts Irish Tarmac Rally Championship, following a ceremonial start at City Hall in Cork City on Friday night.
Ahead of the event, Seaman outlined his expectations for the weekend.
He said:
“I’m really looking forward to this weekend’s MRF Tyres Cork 20 Rally. My first visit to the iconic Cork 20 stages based around Macroom as a member of the organising Munster Car Club and knowing the work the team are putting into the event, it’s great to be able to make my four-wheel drive debut on a proper international rally.
“My father, Gerard, is a rally official and is on the organising committee for the event and has been involved in the club and event for many years now. It’s great to see both a well-supported field and, for myself, set benchmarks against others in similar machinery. I first competed in this event alongside my father in a Ford Escort G3, so I am looking forward to another debut of sorts this weekend again alongside Gareth.”
