Young and Lawlor Lead Kingdom Championship After Summer Rally

The Moriarty’s Central Car Sales Kingdom of Kerry Rally Championship standings have taken shape following round three, the Tralee-based Kerry Summer Rally. As a result of Class 11F wins on both day one and day two of the Rally of the Lakes and another class victory in the Summer Rally, Darren Young and co-driver Pa Lawlor in their Honda Civic have taken maximum points attainable after three rounds.

Round one and two double-winners Rob Duggan and co-driver John McCarthy—who dominated Class 14 in their Escort—opted to sit out the Summer Rally. Their absence allowed Class 13 Escort crew Dave Slattery and Denis Coffey to move up into second place overall in both the driver and co-driver standings. Slattery holds second in the driver standings on 27 points, with Coffey occupying second in the co-driver table on the same total.

Vincent O’Shea sits third in the driver standings on 25 points at the wheel of his Class 14 Darrian T90 GTR, while his navigator Eoin O’Donoghue holds third in the co-driver standings on 25 points after scoring strongly across all three opening rounds.

In the Historic category, Fergus O’Meara retains the lead on 18 points in his BMW M3 E30 despite not starting in Tralee. His co-driver Brian Duggan holds the same total as part of the same crew. Paul Ahern and co-driver Kieran Murphy sit second in the historic division on 17 points in their BMW M3.
