Stephen Walsh set for continental debut at 19th Belgian Classic Trophy
Ardfert classic road racer Stephen Walsh is preparing to make his international debut later this month as he travels to Belgium for the 19th running of the prestigious Belgian Classic Trophy, taking place from 21 to 23 August.
Organised by the Club Racing Motorcycle Belge (CRMB), the event sees the picturesque Ardennes countryside around Gedinne transformed into a challenging 5,063-metre natural road circuit.
The Belgian Classic Trophy holds a rich history in continental road racing, counting towards both the Belgian Classic Bikes Championship and the IHRO European Championship. The meeting regularly attracts top vintage and classic racers from across Europe, featuring grids that range from pre-1950 vintage machinery through to classic British, Japanese, Italian, and German bikes, post-classics up to 1986, and three-wheel sidecar action across the weekend.
The event kicks off with practice sessions on Friday, 21 August, before two full days of high-octane racing on Saturday and Sunday. For Walsh, taking on the famous Gedinne circuit marks a major milestone in his racing career as he brings his classic machinery onto the European stage.
