Over 100 Vehicles Turn Out for 16th Ballymac Vintage Club Run

Despite a wet start to the morning, the 16th annual Ballymac Vintage Club Classic Car and Honda 50 Run drew a strong turnout on Sunday, with over 100 vehicles registering for the event.

Entrants brought a wide variety of machinery to O’Riada’s Bar and Restaurant in Ballymacelligott, ranging from classic cars and vans to campers and Honda 50s. The morning also featured several vintage and classic vehicles making their first appearance at a Kerry event.

The day began with a cars and coffee gathering, giving participants and spectators a chance to view the vehicles and catch up over refreshments before setting off.

This year’s event raised funds for two local causes: St. John of God Oileán Beo in Castleisland, which supports adults with intellectual disabilities, and the Kerry Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes, which assists sick and infirm pilgrims alongside volunteers and medical staff. Organisers also extended their thanks to the public for supporting Saturday’s on-street collection in Castleisland, with the total amount raised set to be announced in the coming days.

The run was supported by main sponsors BG Motors Killarney, Brownes Agri Steel Castleisland, and O’Riada’s Bar and Restaurant, along with local businesses and individuals who donated spot prizes for the morning gathering.

Shortly after 11:00 am, the convoy departed O’Riada’s, navigating local backroads through Castleisland before making a short comfort stop in Brosna. The route then continued toward the Cork line, finishing in Knocknagoshel, where refreshments were served by the Knocknagoshel Meals on Wheels team.

The Ballymac Vintage Club will host its next event, a Car and Tractor Run, on Sunday, September 20, with further details to be announced on their Facebook page.
