There is always a Kerry connection: Richard Browne returns to Mondello Park with Kristoffersson Motorsport

The FIA European Rallycross Championship returns to Mondello Park this weekend for the first time since 1996, and a Kerry engineer is right at the centre of the paddock action.
Firies-born engineer Richard Browne is back in the European Rallycross paddock this season with the powerhouse Kristoffersson Motorsport (KMS) team. The German-based engineer forms a key part of the technical setup as the Swedish squad tackles the Euro RX1 category for the 2026 season.
The KMS team arrives in County Kildare brimful of confidence for the fourth round of the championship campaign. The squad looks to have finally overcome the launch problems that hindered their Volkswagen Polos during the opening two events of the year.
Despite those early starting issues, Johan Kristoffersson won the season opener in Rīga ahead of teammate Ole Christian Veiby, before a first-corner clash disrupted their run in Hungary. However, a dominant one-two finish on home soil at Höljes a fortnight ago proved the launch problems are being resolved, leaving the team in a strong position for the Irish round.
With Browne helping to guide the technical direction, the team is ready to exploit the full potential of the cars on Mondello’s historic rallycross track.
