Oran England set for overseas debut at Nicky Grist Stages in Wales
Cavan rally driver Oran England will make his overseas debut this weekend as he travels to Builth Wells in mid-Wales for the Nicky Grist Stages on Saturday, (July 11).
Supported by Peugeot Ireland, England pilot his Peugeot 208 Rally4 across 70 competitive stage kilometres on the challenging gravel roads in and around the Mynydd Epynt military range.
The event marks the end of a summer break for the England, who last competed on home soil at the Circuit of Munster in late May.
The trip across the Irish Sea represents a vital opportunity to gain international experience outside Ireland for the first time while developing his skills on loose surfaces ahead of upcoming domestic forestry events like the Cork Forest Rally in August.
“We are hoping to try and gain some international experience as we continue to progress along our journey and try to build a strong foundation for next year,” England said.
The overseas outing comes at a pivotal halfway point in the 2026 season. While the crew remains focused on the significant amount of work left to do, their consistency across multiple front-running campaigns has placed them in a strong position domestically.
England currently leads the Class 2 standings in the Triton Showers Motorsport Ireland National Class 2 title race.
In the newly launched Stellantis Rally Cup Ireland, England has secured a perfect record with two wins from two starts.
The mid-Wales event features a demanding itinerary, starting with the Monument stage, followed by runs through Crychan and Halfway, before concluding the loop on Route 60. All four sections will be repeated in the afternoon to test the 140-car field.
Following the conclusion of the Welsh event, he will return to Ireland to resume their domestic campaigns, with their next National, Stellantis Cup and MIJRS appointments taking place at the Stonethrowers Rally in Tipperary on July 19.
