BREAKING: WRC driver Josh McErlean to contest Donegal International Rally

M-Sport Ford World Rally Championship driver Josh McErlean will compete in the Donegal International Rally this June.

The WRC driver will take a break from his international commitments to drive an M-Sport Ford Fiesta Rally2 on the Donegal stages. Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy member Eoin Treacy will co-drive for the event.

The appearance marks McErlean’s first rally on Irish soil in over a year.

“It’s been a dream of mine to contest Donegal for many years,” McErlean said. “I grew up standing on the hedges watching this rally. I’ve been there most years as a fan, so to now be competing makes it very special.”

The rally fits into a tight window in McErlean’s WRC schedule, taking place after Rally Japan and just a week before the Acropolis Rally in Greece.

McErlean noted that the level of competition in the Irish Tarmac Championship is always high, but stated his main goal for the weekend is to enjoy the event and compete in front of the home crowds.
