Kerry crew set for Western Australia forest showdown

The Australian gravel rally season continues at pace this weekend as a strong contingent of Irish competitors, including a prominent Kerry crew, head into the forests for the ARC Plant Hire Forest Rally in Western Australia.
Seeded at car 21, the Killarney Autos Racing team pairing of driver Frank O’Shea and co-driver Muiris O’Connell are back in action. Both originally from County Kerry, the duo are campaign-regular frontrunners on the Australian gravel stages in their Production Cup-spec Subaru Impreza WRX.
This weekend’s forest trek marks their second competitive outing of the year. They arrive in top form following an impressive performance at the season-opening Perth Motorsport Tires Brunswick Rally, where they secured a superb fifth place overall, fifth in the Western Australia standings, third in the Western Australia Production Cup, and second in the P5 class.
The Forest Rally features a massive entry list packed with Irish interest across several classes. Leading the top-tier machinery is all Irish crew of Richie Dalton, partnered by Mac Kierans, who lines up at car seven in a Toyota GR Yaris AP4.
The event also features a heavy rear-wheel-drive favourite in Glenn Alcorn, who fields his spectacular Toyota Corolla AE86 alongside Richard Charlesson at car 32.
Other Irish names scattered through the upper order include Eamon McNabb and Shane Farrell in a Ford Fiesta Rally2, while Keith Hamilton and David Humphreys join Shane Smith and Stephanie Esterbauer in a brace of Subaru Imprezas just ahead of the Kerry crew on the road.
