One driver and six co-drivers fly the Kerry flag in Carlow
The Seven Oaks Hotel Carlow Stages Rally takes place this weekend with a strong Kerry presence among the entry list, featuring one driver and six co-drivers tackling the nine-stage event.
Leading the local interest is Killarney co-driver Ger Conway, who reunites with Welsh driver Meirion Evans in a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2. The pair are back together for the first time since their second-place overall finish at last year’s Donegal International Rally. They also secured the runner-up spot at the 2025 Rally of the Lakes. Evans is no stranger to the Carlow podium, having finished third on his last visit in 2024.

Kerry Motor Club’s John Michael Kennelly is also in action, fresh from his third place finish in the National section of the Rally of the Lakes two weeks ago.
In the modified classes, several Kerry navigators are in action. John McCarthy (Corrow) joins Meath’s Peter Wilson in a Ford Escort at car 48. The pair are looking for a clean run after finishing 32nd overall at the Birr Stages Rally in April.
At car 78, Sean Nolan teams up with Tipperary’s Jason O’Brien for the first time in a Ford Escort Mk2. Further down the field, Niall Myers arrives in Carlow fresh from a podium finish in the Manx National class last weekend.
Ollie Kierce and Kerry co-driver Mike Cleary start their 2024 season at car 138. The Cork-Kerry duo are campaigning a Ford Escort in Class 10.
The rally starts this Sunday at 9:40 am, with stages based around the Carlow-Kilkenny border.
