Kennelly and Harrington secure career-best result at Rally of the Lakes

Kerry Motor Club member John Michael Kennelly and Dylan Harrington delivered a standout performance last weekend to secure a career-best third-place finish in the national modified category of the Assess Ireland Rally of the Lakes.

Navigating for Kennelly in their Class 13 Ford Escort Mk2, Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy member Dylan Harrington described a weekend where preparation and pace came together perfectly. Despite fending off several higher-powered Class 14 machines, the duo remained in the hunt for the top spots throughout the event. A blistering performance on the final stage saw them close the gap to the runner-up position to just 2.9 seconds.

“Delighted with how the weekend turned out,” said Harrington. “The plan at the start of the weekend was to get used to the new engine in the car and to try be on the pace by Saturday evening, so we were happy to be on the pace from the start. We put a lot of work into our recce this year and pacenotes, so it was nice to be rewarded for that. Thanks to all the lads in service who did an excellent job and the Academy for their help and guidance.”
