Autism-friendly ‘Quiet Hour’ returns for Assess Ireland Rally of the Lakes

Autism-friendly ‘Quiet Hour’ returns for 2026 Rally of the Lakes

Following its massive success last year, the Killarney and District Motor Club has confirmed the return of the Autism Friendly “Quiet Hour” for this year’s Assess Ireland Rally of the Lakes.

Taking place on Friday, May 1, at the Lewis Road Car Park, this initiative is designed to ensure that the excitement of the rally is accessible to everyone in the community.

The special session will run ahead of the main ceremonial parade, allowing autistic individuals and their families to get up close to the rally cars and meet the drivers in a calm environment. During this hour, all engines will remain switched off and no revving will be permitted, eliminating the loud noises that can be overwhelming for those with sensory sensitivities. Representatives from Autism Friendly Killarney joined Clerk of the Course Tim Clifford at the launch to highlight the importance of the initiative. By providing a controlled and inclusive space, the club aims to ensure that every fan, regardless of their sensory needs, can experience the magic of the Rally of the Lakes safely and comfortably.
