Irish interest in Toyota WRC2 line-up for Rally Islas Canarias
Cavan co-driver James Fulton and Tyrone’s Philip Allen will lead the Irish interest in the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 field at next week’s Rally Islas Canarias.

Fulton continues his partnership with Toyota WRC Challenge Program driver Yuki Yamamoto. This event marks a significant step for the pair as it is the first rally where they are registered to score points in the WRC2 category. Yamamoto and Fulton showed strong pace in Croatia last week and will look to build on their experience from their debut on the island last year.

Yuki Yamamoto said
“I did Rally Islas Canarias for the first time last year and it was a really nice, pure asphalt rally. Even though we didn’t finish, we gathered good experience of the stages and our times were improving during the rally. This will be the first rally in which we are registered to score WRC2 points, so we want to aim to have a strong result. We gained a lot of helpful knowledge in Croatia, especially on the cleaner stages on the final day, and I think Canaries can be a really good event for us.”
Joining them in the class is Philip Allen, who is one of eight drivers entered in the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2. Allen is competed at the Rally Sierra Morena in Spain last weekend and moved straight to Gran Canaria for the fifth round of the World Rally Championship.
