Motorsport Community Urged to Support ‘Forever 19’ Memorial Run
The Kerry motorsport community is being called upon to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the family of the late Aidan Forristal this May. Aidan, a Lixnaw native with a deep passion for scrambling and cars, was just 19 years old when he tragically lost his life following a road traffic collision in August 2025.
To honor his memory and give back to a vital service, a dedicated fundraising event titled ‘Forever 19: Aidan’s Final Journey’ has been organized. The initiative centers on a grueling 400km run across Ireland undertaken by Aidan’s father, Fozzy, alongside friends Tom Owens and PJ Meehan.
The route serves as a map of Aidan’s life. It will commence at Brú Columbanus in Cork, traveling through Dungarvan to his grandparents’ home in Glenmore, then moving through Ballingarry, Kilmallock, and his home village of Lixnaw, before concluding at his final resting place in Ardfert.
The target of this “call to arms” for local enthusiasts is Brú Columbanus. This Cork-based charity provides essential, free-of-charge accommodation for families of patients in Cork hospitals. It is a lifeline during times of crisis, yet it relies almost entirely on independent fundraising, receiving only a small fraction of State Aid.
For the motorsport fans of North Kerry and beyond, this is an opportunity to turn a collective passion for engines and the outdoors into tangible support for a family and a cause that hits close to home. Whether by donating, sharing the journey, or showing up along the route as they pass through Lixnaw on May 9, your support ensures Aidan’s memory continues to drive positive change.
