Ardfert’s Stephen Walsh set for back-to-back race weekends

Ardfert-based motorcycle racer Stephen Walsh officially kicks off his 2026 season with a busy schedule featuring back-to-back race weekends in the UK and Ireland.

His campaign begins at the Lydden Hill Race Circuit in Kent for the opening round of the British Historic Racing Club (BHRC) festival.

Walsh will compete in the Classic 500 class, onhis “Black Bomber” Honda 450. The BHRC is a long-standing organisation dedicated to vintage machinery, ranging from 1930s classics to more modern pre-1996 grids.

Following the trip to Kent, Walsh returns to Ireland for the first road race of the year. He will compete at the Cookstown 100 on Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25. For the Tyrone event, he will switch to a 350 Honda to contest the Junior Classic class.

The Cookstown 100 marks the traditional start of the Irish road racing calendar. This year’s event features full grids across the majority of classes and a significant entry of 38 newcomers.
