Mondello Park: Masters Superbike Championship Rounds 1-3: Kerry riders update

Mondello Park: Masters Superbike Championship Rounds 1-3

The 2026 Principal Insurance Masters Superbike Championship kicked off at Mondello Park this weekend, with strong performances from local riders across the Supersport and Supertwin classes.

Supersport Cup: Alex O’Grady

Alex O’Grady made a serious statement in the Supersport category. Despite being a Cup competitor, O’Grady spent the weekend mixing it at the front of the Pro field on his AKR Racing Honda CBR.

After a brilliant qualifying session that saw him secure second on the grid, he maintained high consistency across the three-race format. He finished the weekend with an impressive scorecard of 5th overall in race one, p11 in race two, and p9 in the final race of the weekend – both final races were run in bitting cold and even hailstone.

In the Superbike B category, Farranfore-based mechanic Patrick Knee enjoyed a standout debut. Competing on his Supersport Kawasaki ZX6R, the newcomer secured an impressive third-place finish in Race 1, recording a best lap of 1:01.044 on his way to the podium.

It was a productive start for the Kerry man as he begins his journey in the competitive Supertwin ranks.
